Our puppies are raised in our homes, with lots of exposure to kids, other animals, and all of our family chaos that goes along with it! Our puppies are $3,500 (including tax) for limited AKC registration. We do ask for a $500 deposit to hold your pick. Puppies are picked at about 7 weeks and go home to their new families at 8 weeks. We have each litter evaluated by a service dog trainer just before puppy pick day. We utilize the results of these personality tests to make sure they go to the best possible home for them, and to ensure the new owners are getting the best possible match for their lifestyle. The results of the personality tests are posted on our Facebook page.
We do early neurological stimulation and early scent introduction from day 3-16. The early neurological stimulation helps them to develop improved cardiovascular performance, lower heart rates, stronger heartbeats, stronger adrenal glands, greater tolerance to stress, and improved resistance to disease. The early scent introduction has many benefits from enhancing their scenting ability, to improving their temperament and confidence, and preparing them for specialized tasks like service work and search and rescue. They get constant handling from family members and friends. We strive to come up with new and creative enrichment for them at all stages of their development. It is our pride and joy to raise outgoing, happy puppies!
We feed and recommend Purina ProPlan Chicken and Rice Formula. Purina has done a fantastic job with their research and developing diets, We strongly do not recommend our new owners feed raw diets of any kind, grain free diets, or other boutique diets that pet stores may recommend. These diets can drastically increase the incidence of Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) along with chronic GI issues. Golden Retrievers are especially susceptible to this. We encourage you to have a conversation with your veterinarian if a diet change is needed.
Our pups are dewormed with Pyrantel at 3 and 5 weeks, and with Panacur for 3 days at 7 weeks. They get a complete exam by a Veterinarian at 7 weeks old along with their first Distemper vaccine. They are also microchipped at this appointment.
We offer a 2 year health guarantee against genetic diseases (i.e.. hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, or other genetic issues that will affect their quality of life.) We know what it is like to get a puppy with problems like this, and we stand by our puppies!!!
Our puppies are sold with Limited AKC registration which means they may not be bred. We do expect our puppies to be spayed or neutered. That being said, we do recommend if possible, that they be allowed to reach sexual maturity (after 1st heat for females, and around 18 months for males) before they are altered. They should be spayed/neutered by age 2. Allowing them to reach sexual maturity allows their hormones to tell their long bones when it is time to stop growing. It allows their hips to fully mature, and their knees to tighten. This helps decrease the incidence of irregularities with their hip formation and ACL tears in their knees. We formed these recommendations based on the Lifetime Golden Retriever Study by the Morris Animal Foundation. More can be read about this at https://www.morrisanimalfoundation.org/golden-retriever-lifetime-study?msclkid=8177af038a4f142e1c01c80655f02c34.
Our puppies go home with a small bag of food, a blanket that smells like their mom and littermates, a new toy, along with other goodies.
We are always available if any questions need answering, or advice is needed. As we've said before, we have 20 plus years of experience each. There's not much we haven't seen.
